Homestead Museum

Homestead Museum

The Homestead Museum is a place to explore the history of the Los Angeles region from 1830 to 1930, with six acres of grounds to discover.

The Homestead Museum team wanted a modern look to their site, with areas to display dynamic content. They also wanted full control of content editing, menu links and file management.

Features on the redesigned site include rotating images on the home page, a dynamic menu that the Homestead Museum team can edit, site-wide keyword search capabilities, and 360-degree panoramic views of key site features. Homestead Museum editors are able to create additional views simply by uploading the panoramic image. Search engine optimization options for editors on each page of the site help the site's ranking with Google and the other search engines.

Citrus chose a Drupal content management system (CMS), meeting the needs of the Homestead Museum team editors to update their own content. The dynamic content areas on the home page allow editors to select what content will grab a website visitor's attention, directing them further into the site. The CMS gives the team an opportunity to update the site as they wish, making the site look fresh and modern yet reflecting the time period of the museum.

The new design incorporates a theme that captures the colors and styles found throughout the Homestead Museum grounds, and the images demonstrate the many artifacts and architectural treatments found at the museum.
